Ramesh Budihal was the standout performer of the day for India as the fourth edition of the ASF Asian Surfing Championship kicked off in Mahabalipuram on Monday.
He recorded 12.33 points in his heat and secured a spot in the third round of the competition. Other notable entries to the third round were Kishore Kumar and Srikanth D, who qualified with 12.17 and 13.70 points respectively.
Indonesia’s Mega Artana recorded the highest score of the day, amassing 16.50 points in the first round of the Open Men’s Seeding Round.

A total of 16 heats were run in the Open Men’s category, with the top two surfers from each heat moving forward, while others will battle again in the repechage rounds.
The competition will continue tomorrow with the Women’s Open Round 1, followed by U-18 Girls Round 1.
