Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi over his speech in Lok Sabha during Operation Sindoor debate, alleging that his remarks “proved” he acts “on behalf of Pakistan”.
Criticising him for his address in the House, Sarma dubbed Gogoi as a “disgrace to Assam”.
“speech delivered by our MP from Jorhat in Parliament yesterday proved beyond doubt that he acts on behalf of Pakistan. His secret trip and close ties with the Pakistani establishment speak volumes. With his wife and both the kids holding foreign citizenship, he can leave India any time. He is a disgrace to Assam and a betrayal of our pride as proud Indian,” the Assam Chief Minister posted on X.

Sarma’s strong remarks came after Gogoi questioned the government over a number of topics during the Op Sindoor debate, such as Donald Trump’s ceasefire claims and jets being allegedly downed in India.
The Congress leader’s remarks in the Parliament were also played up by Pakistani media, which was slammed by Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika.
Gogoi asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “whom did you surrender” if Pakistan was ready to kneel down.
“The entire country, and the Opposition, were supporting PM Modi. Suddenly, on 10th May, we got to know that there had been a ceasefire. Why? We wanted to know from PM Modi that if Pakistan was ready to kneel down, then why did you stop, and to whom did you surrender? The US President has said this 26 times that he forced India and Pakistan to announce a ceasefire,” the Congress MP from Jorhat said.
He also asked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who initiated the debate on the government’s end and was present in the House when Gogoi spoke, about the number of Indian fighter jets lost during the India-Pakistan conflict.
He alleged that the soldiers of India are “being lied to”.
“We want to know from Rajnath Singh ji today how many of our fighter jets were downed. We have to tell this not just to the public but also to our jawans, as they are being lied to as well,” he said.
He further asked how terrorists from Pakistan entered Pahalgam and carried out the heinous attack on Indian civilians.
