India’s women surfers endured a difficult outing in the first round of the Open Women section during the second day of the Asian Surfing Championships 2025 on Tuesday.
National champion Kamali Moorthy registered the highest score by an Indian on the day with a 7.60, while Sugar Shanti earned earned 4.97, and Shrishti Selvam 4.60.
In the opening round of the U18 Girls division, Saanvi Hegde managed a 2.63 and Aadya Singh scored a 1.40.
Japan’s Anri Matsuno earned the day’s highest heat score with a staggering 15.34 in the Open Women section, while Thailand’s Isabel Higgs, who scored 17.00, registered the highest points in Round 1 of the U18 Girls’ Seeding Round.
The third day of the championships will witness U18 Boys in action.
