In a tit-for-tat move, the Kerala unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday lodged a “missing person” complaint against Wayanad Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a day after the Congress-affiliated Kerala Students Union (KSU) lodged a similar report against Thrissur MP and Union Minister Suresh Gopi.
The complaint, filed by Kerala BJP Scheduled Tribes (ST) Morcha President Mukundan Palliyara, claimed that the senior Congress leader has been missing from her parliamentary constituency for the past three months.
In his letter, Palliyara mentioned that Gandhi has not visited Chooralmala, which suffered one of Kerala’s worst disasters, claiming hundreds of lives and causing damages worth crores.
“Despite Wayanad having one of the highest tribal populations in the state, the Congress MP has been absent from the constituency and has not addressed pressing tribal issues,” the complaint read.
The BJP leader further urged the police to accept the complaint and take necessary steps to locate the missing MP.
The move came a day after the Kerala Students Union (KSU), affiliated with the grand-old party, filed a missing complaint against Suresh Gopi.
The union alleged that the union minister was “inaccessible” to the people of his constituency and district for some time. They claimed that Gopi has not been to the constituency for the last three months, and he had not uttered even a word on the recent arrest of two Catholic nuns from the state in Chhattisgarh.
Later on Monday, the BJP leader posted photos on his social media handle showing himself holding an official meeting amid the allegations of being “missing.”
“Meeting with the senior officials of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas regarding the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a matter of discussion at Rajya Sabha today,” Gopi posted on his ‘X’ handle, along with some photographs of the meeting.
