Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA Kaushik Reddy was booked for his controversial remarks on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
During a media interaction on Friday, the BRS leader had accused the Chief Minister of orchestrating phone tapping of MLAs, MLCs, MPs, and film personalities, including actresses, with the help of private hackers, Siasat reported.
Reddy claimed that he had full knowledge of Revanth Reddy’s past.
The Rajendranagar Police registered a case against the MLA.
The BRS leader’s remarks sparked outrage among Congress supporters, after which Rajendranagar Congress president Prabhakar Reddy lodged a police complaint, which led to the registration of an FIR under relevant sections.
Anticipating possible protests by Congress workers, a large number of BRS supporters gathered at Kaushik Reddy’s residence. The police stepped up security in the area.
What Were BRS’ Allegations?
Addressing a press conference yesterday, BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr K Sanjay alleged that the phones of even those who had come to participate in the Miss World Pageant were tapped.
They claimed that Revanth Reddy himself had told some journalists during an informal talk in New Delhi on Thursday that the police would carry out phone tapping. They also claimed that Reddy admitted to his Cabinet colleagues that phone tapping was happening because, as the head of the government, he needed to know what was going on.
The leaders demanded CBI and ED inquiries into alleged phone tapping incidents at the behest of Revanth Reddy and asked why the Chief Minister was engaging in accusing former CM KCR of phone tapping, who they said, never indulged in such acts.
Kaushik Reddy alleged that he had filed a complaint with the police on December 5 last year that the phones of his wife and his were tapped; however, no case had been filed.
