Maxwell did not confirm whether the meeting between Jeffrey Epstein and Princess Diana actually took place, but acknowledged that efforts were made to initiate it

Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, made a bombshell suggestion that Epstein may have arranged for a date with the late Princess Diana, according to newly-released tapes from the US Department of Justice.
Maxwell, 63, made the comments during a two-day interview last month with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, according to The Daily Beast. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for her role in recruiting and grooming young women for Epstein to sexually abuse and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In the transcript, Maxwell did not confirm whether the meeting actually took place, but acknowledged that efforts were made to initiate it. “I don’t know if he sat with Diana or he met with Diana and he’d already met her. I don’t know, but this, I believe was organised by Rosa,” referring to Rosa Moncton, a mutual acquaintance of both Diana and Epstein.
“I don’t know if she was being set up as a date for him, maybe because she was… I don’t want to speak bad of Diana, but… I’m not going to do that,” she said. Maxwell also noted that Epstein had lived in London during the 1980s and was in touch with members of Britain’s high society.
She suggested that the events where Epstein and Princess Diana might have crossed paths occurred in the early 2000s. However, this timeline conflicts with the fact that Diana died in a car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997.
Maxwell Denies Introducing Epstein To British Royals
Elsewhere in the interview, Maxwell made further controversial claims, including her long-standing assertion that a photo showing her with Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre was “fake.” She also denied introducing Epstein to the British Royal family, insisting, “That is a flat untruth.”
She also said Prince Andrew’s former wife, Sarah Ferguson, had encouraged Epstein’s relationship with Andrew. “I thought that Sarah was trying to put the moves on Jeffrey, if I’m being honest,” she said.
Maxwell also dismissed claims that Andrew had sexual encounters with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of abusing her at Maxwell’s London home. “The idea of him doing anything of that nature in my house, that’s the size of this room, is so mind-blowingly inconceivable to me.”
The US Department of Justice released a transcript of a previously undisclosed interview with Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year federal prison sentence for sex trafficking and other crimes related to Epstein’s abuse of underage girls.
Maxwell, who has been seeking to overturn or reduce her 20-year sentence, had repeatedly claimed not to have witnessed events when asked to provide details of known incidents. Her interview with Blanche was opposed by Epstein’s victims and their families, saying she would say anything to protect herself and Trump.
Epstein was arrested on federal charges of sex trafficking minors but was found dead in his jail cell in 2019. He had pleaded not guilty at the time of his arrest. His sudden death, coupled with his connections to high-profile political and business figures, sparked a wave of conspiracy theories alleging a cover-up.
